The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Osun State Chapter, has formally adopted the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate for the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election. Apostle G. Remi Omidire, the SDP said the resolution was taken “after extensive consultations and careful consideration of the political realities and the overriding interest of the people of Osun State.” “At the meeting… it was unanimously resolved that our party shall adopt the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for 15th August, 2026,” the letter stated. Describing the move as strategic, the SDP said the collaboration “represents a significant step towards strengthening progressive politics in Osun State and advancing the collective aspiration for good governance, sustainable development and the continued prosperity of our people.” The SDP’s adoption comes weeks ahead of the August 15 poll, and is expected to boost the APC’s structure and grassroots mobilisation in the state.
