The Texas Rangers hired former MLB player and manager Skip Schumaker for their managerial role Friday.
Schumaker became the 21st full-time manager in Rangers history and signed a four-year contract that will run through 2029.
Schumaker spent one year serving as the senior advisor of baseball operations, assisting Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young.
Schumaker takes over for Bruce Bochy, who guided Texas to its lone World Series championship in 2023.
Schumaker has World Series pedigree as a player, helping the St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series in 2011 and earning two World Series rings in St. Louis.
