Image: Garry EllisThe Queensland Heritage Rally has found a new home in Stanthorpe after a chance conversation prompted a local historic vehicle club to step in and save the state’s premier heritage event. The Stanthorpe Historic Vehicle and Machinery Group has been operating since 1999 and will celebrate its 27th year in 2026. Garry said a chance conversation with members of a Toowoomba club sparked the opportunity to bring the Queensland Heritage Rally to Stanthorpe after no other organisation volunteered to host it. Although hosted in Queensland, Garry said interest was already coming from well beyond the state’s borders. Registration packs are already available through the Queensland Heritage Rally website and Facebook page, where organisers are directing prospective exhibitors for event information and entry details.
