A Baltimore case could have broad implications across Maryland over how inspectors general conduct investigations and gain access to government records. It will likely take a month for a judge to decide whether to dismiss Cumming’s lawsuit over access to city records in order to independently conduct investigations related to city government. The OIG’s attorneys told the judge on Tuesday that 49 subpoenas have not been fulfilled. City attorneys told the judge that direct access is a breach of attorney-client privilege.
