In proposals submitted to Bexley Council by Mr M. Thampapillai, a vacant commercial unit at 16 Princess Parade, Waterside, has been earmarked for a new venture. The unit, which was previously occupied by Crayford Funeral Service, has been empty for more than three years after the business ceased trading around January 2023. Developers say the scheme would bring the currently vacant unit back into active use and help support the local economy. The applicant argues the proposal would provide a boost to the local area while bringing a long-vacant premises back into use. Planning papers state: "The proposed development will assist in boosting local business" and would support the principle of sustainable economic development.
