The Rattlers dominated from start to finish, rolling past Tharptown 63-6 in arguably their most complete effort of the season. “We preached all week to start fast,” said Tanner coach Matt Smith, “and that we can’t be a second-half team.”Slow starts have plagued Tanner, from region games against Winston County and Lexington, to last week’s non-region heartbreaker against Clements. “We had a really hard-fought game last week, and everybody played well enough to win the game, and we felt like we should have won the game. They want to be a good football team, and individually, want to be really good football players,” Smith said. We haven’t made the playoffs for a couple of years, so that’s something the seniors have really strived for.”
