A Common Council committee delayed a vote on the proposed moratorium Tuesday after the city attorney raised legal concerns. State law requires a public hearing before the pause can be approved. "What we're trying to do throughout this legislation is really center people...this is the way that we can bring innovation to Milwaukee that actually fits in Milwaukee and not the other way around." A public hearing could happen as early as next month. The city is still working on permanent data center regulations.
