ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A statewide campaign is underway to reduce bridge strikes, focusing on safety for commercial drivers and rental truck operators. Since February, drivers who hit a bridge face an eight-point violation on their license. “Bridge strikes are 100 percent preventable, and everyone plays a critical role in preventing these strikes from happening,” Governor Hochul said. NYSP patrolsNew York State Troopers will have patrols in areas across the state as part of the campaign. The troopers will go to areaswhere there have been documented bridge strikes by large commercial vehicles.
