Jammu Tawi, Jul 28: The Central government on Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that 39 e-Zero FIRs have been registered in Jammu and Kashmir since the rollout of the e-Zero FIR system in July 2026, making the Union Territory one of the 18 States and UTs where the facility has been implemented to ensure faster action in cyber financial fraud cases. The complainant is required to visit the police station within three days to convert the Zero FIR into a regular FIR. According to the data tabled in Parliament, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 39 e-Zero FIRs after implementing the system in July 2026. Other States and UTs where the system has been introduced include Delhi, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Haryana, Gujarat, Tripura, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Bihar and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He added that while the Centre has provided the technology platform, registration of FIRs, investigation, arrests and filing of charge sheets remain the responsibility of the respective State and Union Territory law enforcement agencies.
