Oldham Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) has been assisting firefighters and the RSPB at the Dovestone Reservoir fire, providing navigation and medical support during the multi‑agency operation. In a statement, Oldham Mountain Rescue Team said: "With the warm, dry and increasingly windy conditions early on Saturday, the ongoing wildfires at Dovestone and Swineshaw intensified, producing heavy smoke and rapidly spreading fire fronts. "Oldham Mountain Rescue Team was tasked with supporting Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the RSPB, providing navigational support and medical cover for those working on the incident. Mountain rescue volunteers have played a key role by ensuring the safety of crews working in remote and challenging terrain, using specialist vehicles and equipment to reach areas that are otherwise inaccessible.
