Despite the Red Sox claiming they "dodged a bullet" last night after Curtis Mead was hit in the wrist by a pitch in just his second plate appearance in a Boston uniform, the actual diagnosis is much worse. Mead has a broken wrist and might need surgery. That's because he was flying to California to join the Red Sox and take Mead's place on the roster. Oh, and even if Mead returns this year, there's a decent chance he doesn't have nearly as much when he comes back. Well, last night, Mead stayed in the game, and then was initially diagnosed with a right wrist contusion with negative x-rays.
