Let's start with the relatively easy first step: Cutting through the thinner sides, or ends, of a cinder block, if you need to remove a chunk. Then, with the saw unplugged or the battery disconnected, set the depth of cut to roughly half the cinder block's thickness. Connect the power, rest the front of the saw on the cinder block, and make the cut. A slightly different approach is needed if you want to cut the cinder block in half through the thicker central web. By this point, the cinder block will be weakened, so it should break through the remainder fairly easily.
