Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inaugurated the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 at Thyagaraj Stadium, marking the beginning of the prestigious international tournament that will run until August 2. Rekha Gupta said Thyagaraj Stadium will serve as the Commonwealth’s table tennis arena throughout the championship and invited Delhi residents to be part of the global sporting event by cheering for the participating athletes. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood also welcomed the participating teams, describing the championship as a celebration of excellence, sportsmanship and global camaraderie. He extended his best wishes to all players for a successful tournament at Thyagaraj Stadium. Ashish Sood said the successful hosting of the championship reflects Delhi’s growing stature as a global sporting destination under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
