ABC 57MICHIGAN CITY, Mich. -- The Michigan City Police Department says a viral video that raised concern over animal treatment by the city's Animal Control department does not depict abuse. Some social media accounts speculated that the video appeared to show an Animal Control officer mishandling a dog in his care. Police officials say the incident was already under investigation prior to social media attention. Officials say the particular dog in the video has documented high-energy and aggressive behavior, including attacking other dogs. A statement from the department says pepper spray was once needed to stop this dog from attaching another animal.
