On Saturday, the governor of the Tyumen region, Alexander Moor, confirmed that a Ukrainian drone hit the Tyumen refinery, causing a fire at the facility.
The company RI-Invest, which owns the Tyumen refinery, did not respond to Reuters' request for comment.
The diesel hydrotreatment unit was already undergoing repairs last month, following a fire on June 6, caused by internal technical problems.
The Tyumen refinery has a total production capacity of 9 million metric tons per year.
In 2024, it processed 5.7 million tons of crude oil, producing about 0.5 million tons of gasoline and 2.8 million tons of diesel, according to industry sources.
