The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Harbour Tunnel are the city’s only toll roads that are not controlled by Australia’s largest private operator. Coalition roads spokesman Mark Coure called on Transurban to immediately refund every toll paid by motorists caught in the M5 chaos. Motoring group NRMA said Transurban should consider providing toll refunds on a case-by-case basis to motorists disrupted by the tunnel closure. The onus is on the government and the toll road operators to work together to minimise these severe disruptions,” spokesperson Peter Khoury said.
