Rwanda has granted citizenship to 105 people born in 27 countries, mostly Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Six were born in Belgium, five were born in Cameroon, four were born in Kenya and three were born in Rwanda to parents of foreign origin.
Canada, the Netherlands, the Republic of the Congo, Switzerland and Tanzania each have two people born in their country who have been granted Rwandan citizenship.
About 60% of those granted Rwandan citizenship are between 30 and 49 years of age, who appear to have the potential to contribute to the country’s development.
Rwandan citizenship came into effect on July 24, 2026, according to the official gazette in which the announcement was published.
