Johnston County Firefighter Charged With Indecent Liberties, Sexual Exploitation Of MinorSMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Johnston County firefighter has been fired after being arrested on felony charges alleging he took indecent liberties with a child and possessed sexually exploitative material involving a minor.
Joshua Hunter Womack, 36, of Smithfield, was arrested July 24 at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
At last check, Womack remained in the Johnston County Detention Center.
Moore said the department was contacted by a detective with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office regarding allegations involving an off-duty incident that was under criminal investigation.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the investigation or the age of the alleged victim.
