The Port and Terminal Multiservices Ltd. (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has urged stakeholders to embrace the Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) to strengthen cargo security, facilitate trade and improve revenue assurance. The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Nura Miko, made the call on Tuesday in Lagos at a stakeholders’ sensitization workshop on the deployment of the ECTS. According to him, the technology will enable real-time cargo monitoring, detect route deviations and seal tampering, prevent cargo diversion, optimize manpower deployment and strengthen revenue collection through enhanced cargo visibility. Earlier, Deputy Comptroller, PTML, Regina Owan, said the deployment of the ECTS underscored the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to safeguard cargo integrity, facilitate legitimate trade and strengthen border security. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workshop was organized to sensitize stakeholders on the procedures, operational framework and expectations for the implementation of the Electronic Cargo Tracking System.
