Employees at the Ministry of Works staged protest action Tuesday morning, demanding payment of outstanding overtime and wages reportedly owed to workers. The demonstration took place outside the ministry’s headquarters on St. John’s Street, where employees gathered for a meeting to discuss the way forward. “We want our money — all our money,” Peters said. Peters said employees were no longer prepared to accept verbal promises of payment and would return to work once the outstanding money was paid. He said workers had previously staged protest action and received assurances that the matter would be addressed, but the payments remained outstanding.
