Makinde Deploys ₦7.7bn Aerial Assets to Bolster Amotekun, Joint Operations..IBADAN — Demonstrating a major shift toward tech-driven governance and regional safety, the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday officially took delivery of its long-awaited security surveillance aircraft at the newly upgraded Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.
The deployment marks the fulfillment of a key policy commitment by Governor Makinde to fortify the state’s security framework.
The specialized fixed-wing platforms—procured by the state at a cost of approximately ₦7.7 billion—are engineered to deliver real-time intelligence, rapid target identification, and continuous aerial monitoring.
Designed to counter pressing regional security challenges such as kidnapping, illegal mining, and cross-border banditry, the aircraft will operate in direct synergy with federal security agencies, the Nigerian Air Force, and the state-backed Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps).
“With these modern aerial assets active, our ground troops and joint task forces now hold a critical intelligence advantage across every inch of Oyo State.”
