The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) has honored Jinia Roy, the Thomas A. Lipo Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with its Young Professional Exceptional Service Award.
With the award, the society recognizes PELS members who have graduated with their first professional degree within the past 15 years and who have provided exceptional service to the welfare of PELS.
At UW-Madison, she’s an associate director of the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium.
The award is the latest among many IEEE honors for Roy, including IEEE PELS PhD Thesis Talk (1999), IEEE/PEDES’96 Award for the Best Thesis in Power Electronics (2013), and best paper awards (IEEE IECON 2014 and APEC 2017).
She has been a regional distinguished lecturer for IEEE PELS since 2024 and an associate editor for the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics since 2022.
