The campaign ultimately won an end to native forest logging and saw 130,000 ha of native forest on the West Coast transferred into protection under the Department of Conservation. Greenpeace says if the Coalition Government’s Conservation Amendment Bill passes it would unravel decades of conservation progress. Greenpeace is inviting people to join a Nationwide Day of Action on 15 August to say Hands off Conservation Land.
