The Green Party is calling for senior governance roles at Crown entities to be publicly advertised, after new research shows only 18 of the 71 people appointed by the Government were recruited through a publicly advertised process.
“Every one of these roles should be advertised publicly, with the position description and the skills the board is looking for published alongside it.”
NOTESOf the 71 appointments, 18 were advertised (25 per cent) and 53 were not (75 per cent).
68 of the appointees are Pākehā or tauiwi (96 per cent) and three are Māori (4 per cent).
The research covers appointments to the lead governance role of statutory entities, being Crown agents, Independent Crown Entities and Autonomous Crown Entities.
