Last Friday, two Steamboat Springs Middle School students attended the Colorado Civics Bee statewide competition. Now in her third year at the middle school, Wood requires all of her students to enter at least one academic contest during the school year. She’s had students make it to the state civics bee competition every year that she’s been teaching. The civics bee competition begins with a written essay round that is due in early February. At the regional round, Bock and Fenley were awarded $250 and $125 respectively in the form of a giant check.
