(ABC 6 News)–Great River Energy, ITC Midwest and Xcel Energy are inviting the public to weigh in on the next phase of the proposed new electric transmission projects anchored by a 765 kV backbone transmission line. The public is invited to a series of open houses across southern Minnesota. PowerOn Midwest is a proposed network of new transmission projects that would connect eastern South Dakota and southern Minnesota. Open house attendees can learn about the project’s timeline, regulatory process and proposed routes. The transmission projects were approved by the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) in 2024, but state regulatory approval is still required before construction can begin.
