Anantapur: District Collector O Anand on Tuesday inspected the Nimbagallu tank and Vidapanakallu GBC pump house to review drinking water preparedness. Stating that seasonal rainfall deficits left regular storage tanks depleted, he announced that incoming releases from the Tungabhadra reservoir via the HLC canal will be reserved 100 percent for drinking purposes through RWS and Satya Sai schemes. Regretting the inability to supply canal water for agriculture, the Collector urged farmers to cultivate Irrigated Dry (ID) crops and adopt micro-irrigation for standing perennial crops. HLC SE Sudhakar Rao and RWS SE K Srinivasulu accompanied the Collector.
