Harking back to Sabato De Sarno’s “Rosso Ancora” – a rich maroon colour that was introduced as part of Gucci’s spring/summer 2024 collection and remained a mainstay while De Sarno was at the helm. Although Gucci has proven its transeasonal versatility, burgundy is a shade commonly associated with autumn – hence its prominence throughout the autumn/winter 2025 collections. Saint Laurent, Prada, Max Mara and Burberry are just a few of of the fashion houses that embraced this merlot tone, and so unsurprisingly this has influenced this month’s street style scene.
