Former Labour adviser Matthew Torbitt pleads guilty to fraudulent travel claims

Torbitt, who appeared in court dressed in a navy blue suit, pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation.
District Judge Navneet Sher sent the case to Snaresbrook Crown Court for sentence at a later date, which has yet to be fixed.
“It’s unlikely to be before four weeks, in any event,” she told the defendant.
Torbitt worked in various advisory roles for Labour frontbenchers between 2018 and 2024.
