German authorities say the suspect in this past weekend’s lethal Berlin Pride attack had pledged allegiance to the ISIL (ISIS) armed group in a video. The German federal prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday that investigators found the video on a phone that was in the rented minivan used to drive into a crowd of people at the festival on Saturday. The video that police found was recorded on Saturday, the day of the attack that killed a 65-year-old Polish woman and injured 31 people. Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese roots, was known to the criminal justice system. Berlin prosecutors said Ballout travelled to Lebanon in 2025 with the goal of going to Syria to join ISIL.
