LAGOS, Nigeria – The Federal Government has postponed the planned repair of a failed expansion joint on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, hours before work was expected to begin.
Okay News reports that the original traffic plan would have reduced the four-lane carriageway to two lanes across a 1.5-kilometre section of the outward Lagos corridor.
The repair was presented as a safety intervention after repeated crashes and concerns about the condition of expansion joints on the bridge.
Until a new date is announced, the planned lane reduction and temporary traffic arrangement will not take effect.
Kara Bridge is one of the busiest sections of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, carrying daily commuter, commercial and freight traffic between Lagos and communities in Ogun State.
