A rope team from Shuswap Volunteer Search and Rescue rescued a paraglider in Mara who tumbled more than 100 metres down a steep slope after a problematic launch. In a statement, SAR said it received a call from BC Emergency Health Services on July 18 to help rescue an injured paraglider. Jan Crerar, SAR manager, said the paraglider fell down steep embankment after having trouble with his launch. “Meanwhile, the SAR rope team set up systems to send two members down with a stretcher, and to secure and haul up the paraglider.”
