Nick Pelletier and Bradley Kraut launched from the north end of Okanagan Lake near Vernon around noon Monday, several hours later than planned after mechanical issues with their support boat delayed their trip to the starting point.
We had been delayed quite a bit going down to our starting point in Vernon.
Pelletier, a Kelowna endurance athlete, previously kayaked the length of Okanagan Lake solo in 2022 after unsuccessful swim attempts in 2020 and 2021.
While kayaking may be gruelling, Pelletier said it still doesn't compare to swimming the lake.
