Before the NFL declined to hold a supplemental draft this year, the Dallas Cowboys were keeping an eye on Brendan Sorsby as a potential developmental quarterback with Dak Prescott under contract through the 2028 season. Per ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys had "high interest" in Sorsby as a short-term backup option and a potential long-term starter with Prescott entering his mid-30s. Since Sorsby no longer has college eligibility remaining, his options to play football in 2026 are now quite limited. Per ESPN's Matt Miller, multiple NFL scouts believed Sorsby would have been a high first-round pick in 2026 if he had been eligible. Prescott is entrenched as the Cowboys starter right now, but he will be finishing his age-35 season when his current contract expires.
