Stepping Stones Crisis Society has officially opened its new 50,000 square-foot trauma-informed facility on Saturday, September 6. The facility brings all Stepping Stones programs under one roof, including emergency shelter, second stage housing and outreach services. “This project is built on hope, compassion and the unshakable belief that every woman and child deserves a safe place to land,” said Melissa Francis, CEO of Stepping Stones Crisis Society. The project was funded by the Government of Canada through CMHC, with contributions from the city of Cold Lake, M.D. of Bonnyville, Cenovus Energy, Strathcona Resources, Women’s Shelters Canada, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and multiple community members, local businesses, volunteers and dedicated staff of Stepping Stones.
