K9 Rescue Group in Nambeelup is experiencing its “worst year yet” as surrender cases reach an all-time high. Just last Thursday, the not-for-profit group received 20 surrender phone calls from people no longer able to keep their dogs. Camera Icon Sisters Chai and Sugar are K9 Rescue Group's newest surrenders, coming from Cockburn pound alongside their dad and sister who was adopted. Ms Barwise said all rescue groups were struggling more and more as the years went on, but this year was reaching a breaking point which she does not know how to fix. Ms Barwise said the emotional cost for the rescue group’s 116 volunteers and three paid staff members was also at an all-time high.
