Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood made the decision to close tomorrow (July 29) as temperatures are forecast to reach a scorching 33C. The team wanted to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the nearly 700 sick, unwanted, and mistreated animals in their care. A spokesman for Hopefield Animal Sanctuary said: "This will allow our team to give our rescued residents their undivided attention and ensure they remain as safe, cool and comfortable as possible throughout the day. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an amber heat-health for the East of England. The alert is in place from Tuesday to Thursday, and the agency warned that rising temperatures may increase health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups.
