Hartley said the city identified a particular shortage of targeted transitional housing for older adults requiring additional support. “There was an understanding that there was more targeted and supportive housing and transitional housing needed so this site was designed with that in mind.” Residents who don’t already have a primary-care provider will be eligible to receive care through the Midtown Kingston Health Home, operated by Kingston Community Health Centres out of the building. Kingston Community Health Centres will fund the Midtown clinic separately, while Lionhearts will be responsible for utilities and other costs connected to its operations.
