NET Web DeskSikkim’s culture and developmental initiatives were showcased at the two-day Northeast India Heritage Festival (NEIHF) held in Columbus, Ohio, from September 19–20. The event brought together communities from across Northeast India to promote tourism, employment, and environmental awareness. Mamta Somani, representing the state, highlighted key achievements including organic farming, recognition as India’s cleanest state, smoke-free public spaces, modern sanitation, a plastic-free lifestyle, and inclusive urban development. The festival also included artisan stalls, a tribute to Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, and participation from a US Councilor for Northeast India from Ladakh. Somani described representing Sikkim internationally as a “humble and privileged opportunity.”
