He said attempts to resolve the matter through mediation had failed, leaving the family with plans to seek legal intervention. According to Dr Siaw Kissi, customary authority places responsibility for funeral arrangements and custody of the deceased in the hands of the family, rather than an individual relative. Dr Siaw Kissi further claimed that even Apostle Safo’s children had not been given the opportunity to see their father’s remains. Dr Siaw Kissi said the family’s position was not to prevent the funeral from taking place but to ensure customary processes were respected. He added that the disagreement should not take away from Apostle Safo’s achievements and contribution to Ghana’s religious, technological and social development.
