Taylor Farms is recalling all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico after health officials linked it to a cyclosporiasis outbreak at Taco Bell locations across five states.
What HappenedOn Friday, Taylor Farms announced it is “voluntarily removing all iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico from the US market.”
Taco Bell, one of the largest fast-food chains in the US, is a significant buyer of shredded iceberg lettuce for tacos and burritos.
Since Taylor Farms supplies iceberg lettuce to various retailers and food service companies, anyone who bought iceberg lettuce from central Mexico in the affected region could be at risk.
Iceberg lettuce, which grows close to the ground and has a large surface area, is especially susceptible to contamination from water.
