Lafayette County firefighters rescued a driver in a submerged car from a ditch on Saturday. According to the Lafayette County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on County Road 421 near Oxford. The mostly submerged car still had the driver trapped inside. Firefighters entered the water alongside the Lafayette County Emergency Management Agency and Baptist Ambulance Service. Shortly after the rescue, the driver was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
