Missed appointments cost NHS Tayside around £92 million in the last three years, according to new figures.
It is estimated this has cost NHS Tayside more than £92 million, based on the average direct cost of a consultant clinic attendance being £234.
NHS Tayside missed appointment figures are ‘staggering’Scottish Conservative North East MSP Liam Kerr said: “These figures are staggering.
“But the SNP Scottish Government and NHS Tayside must also look at what more can be done to reduce the number of missed appointments.”
“One of the measures we have introduced to reduce missed appointments is a text reminder system for outpatient appointments to help patients remember their appointment details.
