Sana’a – Houthi militias escalated their security measures in the occupied capital on Sunday by launching an unprecedented campaign to inspect citizens’ mobile phones at military checkpoints and newly established entry points around the city. Local and security sources said the group’s so‑called Security and Intelligence Service deployed personnel at several new checkpoints, focusing on vehicles arriving from government‑controlled provinces or carrying license plates issued in liberated areas. According to the sources, Houthi forces used computers loaded with lists of wanted individuals to cross‑check travelers’ data before moving on to search personal phones and digital content. Abyan’s local authorities condemned the practices, stressing that such acts do not represent the people of the province and vowing that security forces will pursue those responsible. Officials reiterated that the international highway must remain safe for travelers and that the state will not tolerate lawlessness.
