Gamer Group to Protest PlayStation's Move to All-Digital With Player 'Blackout'

Sony angered gamers recently by announcing it would end physical disc sales by 2028, and on Friday, the PlayStation Network went down temporarily, leaving players without access to digital games for hours.
Now, in response to the chaos, players are organizing their own shutdown.
Games preservation group DoesItPlay is planning an “economic and gameplay blackout” for the week of Aug. 23.
"For several years now, Sony Interactive Entertainment has continued to grow further apart from its fan base,” DoesItPlay writes.
“We feel that this [week-long blackout] gives publishers and developers minimal impact while still giving players a voice,” it writes.
