South Sudan: Restoring life-saving nutrition services in Akobo
[]
OCHA - United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
Every week, Nyemiem returns to the outpatient therapeutic programme to collect 14 sachets of ready-to-use therapeutic food so Chuol can continue his treatment at home.
For families returning from displacement, the site offers more than nutrition support.
After being temporarily closed in mid-March when clashes broke out in Akobo, the outpatient therapeutic programme reopened on 16 May.
It is one of 12 outpatient therapeutic programmes supported by Medair in Akobo County, where 6,000 children and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are receiving nutrition support.
Mothers attending the programme also receive counselling on infant and young child feeding, as well as hygiene practices to support recovery.
