The lights are bright at the “Rink Exchange,” with hundreds of hockey fans sitting excitedly in their seats. The University of Oregon club hockey team is racing onto the ice for warm-ups, speeding down the ice with an iconic logo on their chest. With virtually nothing to lose and so much more recognition to gain, the growth of the Oregon hockey program since its establishment has been quite remarkable. The University of Oregon club hockey team was established in 1989. Though an NHL team doesn’t exist in Portland, many hockey fans in Oregon have found their allegiance to the Seattle Kraken or the San Jose Sharks.
