According to the Catholic lay leader, many Angolans express concerns about the tax burden, the number of taxes they pay, and the way public revenue is used. However, he said such concerns must be supported by concrete evidence before they can effectively shape public policy. “Only a scientific study will allow us to understand the reality in depth and present well-founded proposals to the relevant authorities,” he said. The study, he said, is expected to include an analysis of taxpayers' profiles as well as the different taxes currently levied in Angola. It is also about whether tax collection is fair and whether the resources generated improve the lives of citizens,” he said.
