Nairobi, 28 July, 2026 / 11:40 pm (ACI Africa). Catholic communicators in the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) have been challenged to use the upcoming SIGNIS World Congress in Rwanda as an opportunity to advance the resolutions of the association’s just concluded 21st Plenary Assembly. In an interview with ACI Africa on Sunday, July 26, Kenyan Catholic Communication Scholar Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando emphasized the need for communicators in the region to use the global platform to particularly advance AMECEA’s commitment to engaging young people and fostering communion, hope, justice, and good governance. "Since these two key events are taking place back to back, the AMECEA Communicators should use the platform to further the 21st AMECEA Plenary resolutions/theme on involving the youth and building bridges of communion, hope, justice, and good governance in Eastern Africa, the larger Africa, and Madagascar and the world over," Sr. Lando told ACI Africa. The August 3–8 SIGNIS World Congress set to take place in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, comes just days after the conclusion on July 26 of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly, which was held on the theme, "AMECEA's Synodal Journey with Young People: Building Bridges of Communion, Hope, Justice and Good Governance."
