The government of Chad has made the decision to exit the International Crominal Court (ICC), the republic’s foreign ministry said in a statement. The government of Chad explained that it took the step due to what it called the court's limited efficiency and bias. According to N’Djamena, the court has long remained focused on countries of the Global South, Africa in particular. In this context, the government of Chad urged the African Union and its member countries to expedite the creation of African judicial mechanisms. Chad ratified the Rome Statute, the foundational international treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC), in 2006.
